About

I think, dream, and communicate in visuals. I have always been hyper-aware of visual stimuli and the act of creating images is a way of life for me. My poor eye-hand coordination held me back from drawing and painting so I turned to photography and never looked back.

I work in the style of contemplative photography. I search out overlooked, thoughtful moments in everyday life and edit and enhance them in small scenes, natural abstracts, and images with a veil of emotional atmosphere. These thoughtful moments are expressed in my interconnected themes of the transcendent power of light, vibrance of color, the mystery of abstracts, reverie, and private spaces.

I also think conceptually. I honed this capability in my years of writing professionally and in my postgraduate philosophy studies. Concept synchronizes with the visual to help me bring a photograph’s meaning alive.

I photographed people for children’s books and higher education textbooks for the last thirty years. This work allowed me to refine my sensitivity to expression and gesture and to relationships and interactions.

I am inspired by all I have learned through the years. That knowledge has allowed me to return to my early, original vision in photography: creating and developing fine art photographs out of moments of unexpected beauty and meaning in everyday life.
